Fantasy Notes: Slow Dye

September 26, 2006 | by RotoRob | Comments (0)
  • It’s difficult to pinpoint what went wrong with the White Sox this season. Inconsistent starting pitching. Trouble setting the table at the top of the lineup. And, as good as he’s been this season, Jermaine Dye hasn’t been himself down the stretch. He’s dealing with both back and hamstring issues that have limited him to a .265 mark in September. It’s a cruel world, and people will remember that he wasn’t up to snuff at the end when the White Sox crumbled.
  • And what about Joe Crede? He enjoyed a breakthrough season, racking up his first 30-homer campaign. But when it came time to “See you in September,” he was nowhere to be found. His back woes have him struggling under the Mendoza Line and have sapped him of his pop (.310 SLG this month). For Crede, this is a chronic problem, one that has the White Sox more worried than they let on. It’s probably the main reason they have yet to lock up their budding star third baseman to a long-term deal, especially no that prospect Josh Fields is on the horizon. Don’t be surprised if Crede isn’t packaged to the Angels, should the Halos fail to grab Aramis Ramirez, assuming A-Ram chooses the free agency route. The Phils are another team that needs an upgrade at third, and as we know, the Chisox and Phils are fine trading partners.

Monday’s 5-0 loss to Toronto, Boston’s third straight setback after taking Friday’s series opener, left the team a half a game behind the Blue Jays for second [...] more

Fantasy Notes: Aubrey Gets the Call…Sort of

September 25, 2006 | by RotoRob | Comments (0)
Injury-prone Indians prospect Michael Aubrey was recalled to the 40-man roster last week, but he won’t actually report to the team. It’s a procedural move as the team filled out its 40-man roster. If this kid could stay healthy, he’d have a great shot at being the Cleveland first baseman of the future. As it [...] more

Nomar Garciaparra has hit two dramatic game-winning home runs in the last week, but these may still be his final days as a Dodger, we write in today’s Daily Dose. Also, we honor Trevor Hoffman after his record-setting performance last night. Read all of this and the remainder of my fantasy baseball notes in today’s Daily Dose. more
