Hey James,

Bill says he doesn't have any projections planned but did say that two other active players have a chance of reaching 400 career Win Shares this year: Frank Thomas and Greg Maddux. Each currently has 383. He says Thomas should make it if he stays healthy, but he expects Maddux to fall short.

Cool, thanks. I'll check with Bill to see if he has any plans for that.

Another Bill James lackey I see. Me too. I also read Doug Decaturs book "Behind the Scenes" where he talked about working for the Cubs, Astros, and Brewers as a stats consultant. Playing Diamond Mind Baseball simulation leagues makes one understand and value a players less noticed stats such as Win Shares, True ERA, and Runs Created per 27 innings.

VERY nice article here. I'd be interested to see one with a 2007 projection article on the same subject.
