Dear RotoRob: How Much for Herrmann?

June 11, 2007 | By James Morris | comment on this post
Walter Herrmann really put himself on the map with his play down the stretch this season.
Is Walter Herrmann now a keeper?

Dear RotoRob.com,

Thanks for the baseball advice, fellas.

Let’s switch gears to the hardwood. What do you think Walter ‘HaHa’ Herrmann’s fantasy value will be next year? I have a guy offering him up to me in a trade scenario. Is he worth having on a keeper league fantasy roster?

Thanks for all the help.

Daryl

Daryl,

Herrmann certainly looked good down the stretch, but Charlotte’s situation is very much in flux this offseason as the ‘Cats are talking about spending money on free agents, so it’s unclear how exactly their lineup will shake out. The futures of free agent Gerald Wallace and to a lesser extent, Matt Carroll, will certainly be a factor here. Apparently, the Bobcats are looking at Joakim Noah (I’m not sure why), and if they draft him, that will also affect Herrmann’s situation. And let’s not forget that Sean May should be healthy to start the year. Clearly, Charlotte has a potentially very crowded situation on its hands.

As for the deal, as always, it all depends on what he wants in return. If he’s asking for someone who has a more clear-cut job situation next season, I might pass on this one.

  1. [...] By the way, it was remiss of me not to mention that yesterday’s final post was the 600th entry in the site’s history. We remain two weeks and change from our first birthday for those of you wondering. Alright, now that those housekeeping details are out of the way, let’s get down to business. With the Astros continuing to flounder (now tied for fourth place in the NL Central), it’s time to take a quick peek at some players on their Triple-A squad who may be in line for a look at some point this season.
