I think that the next A-Rod per say is coming out of Japan. Sho Nakata the 18 year old high school prodigy with Osaka Toin more than fits the bill in my rather biased opinion. Although highly scouted by rumour has it the Mets, Mariners, and Twins, it is highly unlikely that he signs prior to the NPB high school draft to be held next week. Definetely as far as young players go, he is one to watch!
I don’t like the idea of branding an unproven talent with the mark of being the next anybody. Let them be them! Besides… nobody knows what a guy will do until he does it. Remember Ryan Anderson? The Marines kid who was the spitting image of Randy Johnson and nicknamed the “Little Unit”? Let him do it before you anoint him king of the shortstops.
I once thought Luis Montanez was going to be the next A-Rod. D’oh!!!
