I agree with Todd and Tim. As much as I love Vlady, and am NOT completely sold on Delmon, his potential upside -- especially in the power department -- makes him a reasonable risk. And that extra $25 will come in very handy. ROI is the key.

Young won't give you Vlad numbers, I didn't mean that. But Young could give you a better return on your investment. Vlad will probably produce numbers worthy of a $43 bid. But Young has the potential to produce $30+ numbers at $18. Young has a better chance of being a bargain than Vlad. That's the key to winning an auction league. Same with Peavy. Maybe you have to go $40 for him in the auction. Depends on the league. I'd be willing to take that chance. But I'm betting Chris Young, Atkins, or Blanton outperform their price. By going with the cheaper players you have more money to throw around in the auction.

My concern with the 7 selections listed is that makes up a total $ value of $146 of a total of $300, nearly 50%. You have 17 players to still purchase with $154 making an avg of $9 per player. Having played 10 years+ in a cap league I have my serious doubts that you'd ever be able to assemble a competitive team averaging $9 per player filling out the balance of your roster. My suggestion would be to look at either Delmon or Atkins rather than Vladdy and either Blanton or Vazquez compared to Peavy. This would give you $45+ to utilize at your draft which I believe you'll need. Do you really get $45 worth of stats by keeping Vladdy and Peavy over those other options? I don't think so.

Vlad is equal to Delmon Young?

Vlad: .324/.403/.547
Young: .288/.316/.408

The Metrodome was 27th out of the 30 MLB ballparks for HR's. So, Tampa Bay was more suited as a place for him to power up than Minnesota is.

You cut Peavy? Are you crazy? I don't risk losing him to an owner that may be willing to go as high as $40 to get an ace. While you COULD get him cheaper, you could also have to spend more money to get him back.

Forget Vlad and go with Delmon Young instead. He's much cheaper and might give you more for you money than Vlad whom you could get at the same price ($43) in the auction. I'm thinking the same thing for Peavy. If the going price for pitcher tops out around $34, there's no sense in holing onto him for $34. Get him in the auction. I'd think strongly about Garett Atkins, Chris B. Young, or Blanton if you're worried about your pitching.
