You think? Then why hasn't Cincy opened up negotiations on an extension with him? You don't let your top slugger enter his walk year without making some kind of move to ink him. Especially given that the Reds are in a rebuilding mode.

It's not what Votto or Bruce have done; it's what they WILL do. These are two very special prospects.

I agree that the Reds should try to keep Dunn, but if they get dangled a package of top prospects and/or young players at the deadline, I bet they take it (assuming they are not in contention, which isn't a big leap of logic, you'll agree).

Dunn isn't going anywhere. You're just stirring the pot.

What has Votto or Jay Bruce ever done? Griffey is coming off the books after this year. If Cincinnati is smart, they'll keep Dunn, their most consistent offensive player.

[...] RotoRob wrote an interesting post today on Dunn Deal? Here’s a quick excerpt Will the arrival of Jay Bruce expedite Adam Dunn’s departure from Cincy? Adam Dunn’s tenure as a Red could be nearing an end. While the team picked up his 2008 option on Halloween, the veteran outfielder says that there have been no discussions about a contract extension that will keep him in Cincinnati beyond the end of this season, when he becomes a free agent. GM Wayne Krivsky admitted that the two sides aren’t talking about it. Given that most players prefer not to engage in extension [...]
