If you can handle the part about drugs, then it is more of a "The Blind Side" than it is say "Rebound: The Earl Manigault story". The book is more of a story about the road to redemption than it is about how drugs ruined his life if you know what I mean. Yes, the book would be fine for a 12-year-old to read.
