I can honestly say I'm stil playing it - it's far from perfect, and I have found issues that frustrate me now that didn't when I wrote the initial review (the computer seems to throw 90% strikes, the strike zone seems too large for the CPU, too many balls fall in front of my outfielders, etc.) but nothing that keeps me from playing.

I do agree 100% on MVP Baseball. That was a great series which did so many things right. Ironically I was a fan of MVP Baseball by EA and the NFL2k series by 2kSports, and both of them were wiped out by the other company. To say it is the worst game ever is just being over the top - I've played plenty of baseball games that don't measure up to this one. However, a second patch has also come out for the game, which tells you it shipped with some issues, so if you're playing without the benefit of Xbox Live you may be seeing a very different game.

Ok, ok so I pick up this game and WOW Lincecum why did you get involved with this game, This game is the worse game ever. Who the hell tested this game before releasing it? All 2K programmers should get axed. Never again will I buy a crappy product by a crappy company that decides to sell an underdeveloped game like this. WOW I am amazed how terrible this game is. Yeah, why can't we have MVP Baseball back; that was a great game. Hey Mark Newman, you should do a story on how this game sucks and how buying this game is ripping off people. That could be a great story; just a suggestion. Once again, terrible game, do not make the same mistake I made, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!

Unfortunately, I do not own a PS3 and therefore didn’t feel it was worth the time investment to review MLB ‘09: The Show on either the PS2 or PSP formats. As noted in the review I owned and played the PSP version of The Show last year and enjoyed it. I cannot speak to this year’s version, but it is without question a very strong series.

I know there is a lot of negativity towards the 2k series online, but I chalk some of that up to their exclusivity rights, similar to what EA faces with Madden. The comment about updates speaks to that, as that is a common complaint about EA's juggernaut that one year to the next feels more like a roster update than a fully realized new game. However, having not played the previous versions I had nothing to compare them to so that criticism may be completely legitimate.

There are definitely still some bugs to work out, which ideally should have been ironed out during game testing, but these things slip through. Fable II had some terrible bugs that were addressed by patches. Gears of War 2 had a nearly unplayable online multi-player when it launched, and they're getting ready for a third set of updates/fixes. Ultimately, though, it's just my opinion based on my experience with the game so I'm always glad to see other peoples' thoughts.

I've paid full price for the past three iterations of MLB 2k? and I have to say this is the worst one yet. Bugs, bugs, and more bugs. Plus they seem to have abandoned all the things they did right in 2k8 (transitions, stealing bases, watching the actual runner round the bases instead of an icon, which is just plain childish.)

Online play is worse than last year as well.

I wish they would just go back to 2k8 and issue patches to smooth some of those issues out. I'd be glad to pay $24-$30 each year for an update, but I'm getting pretty tired of paying $65 for a game that changes only slightly -- and often badly -- each year.
