Hey Jake! Starting pitching is such a crap shoot at the best of times. After two outstanding starts, Duke proved to be very hittable Sunday, but at least didn't allow any walks. I definitely agree with you that the Pirates are a tad challenged on offense, but at least it seems that Adam LaRoche is off to a much better start than we've seen over the past several years. Maholm, Snell, Duke et al are going to need a productive year out of LaRoche.

I picked Duke up the day before his CG shutout. Awesome acquisition if he can maintain anything close to what he's done so far. It would be nice if his offense could magically transform into something on the ML level to help him in the wins column.

[...] RotoRob added an interesting post today on The Wire Troll: Habeas CorpasHere’s a small readingAfter watching Huston Street implode, Clint Hurdle (second from right) weighed his options and wisely chose Manny Corpas as the new Rox closer. The wheels on the closer bus keep going round and round. Clint Hurdle didn’t take very long to make a move anointing Manny Corpas as his new closer this past Friday. This is just another example of how drafting set-up guys as an end play in those drafts and auctions can be a solid move. Now, of course, he has to keep the job, but the opportunity is [...]
