Whitesell's star has faded over the past few years. He made his Major League debut as a 26 year old. He was already on the verge of becoming a Quadruple-A player. His extended stint in Arizona seems to prove he is better off in Triple-A. Allen is just 23, so there is still a lot of room for growth. At 52-63, it would be wise for the Diamondbacks to at least try someone new at first base.

Brandon Allen of the Dbacks may be a hot prospect, but so was Whitesell coming in to Arizona from Reno. If Allen comes up and fizzles as wel, going to look silly.
