Kris Medlen needs a place to play as well and even if they trade Lowe/Vazquez, he could grab a rotation spot and send Kawakami to the back end of the 'pen. To my knowledge, and I know that Tim could back this up, Kawakami has closing experience in his Japanese past.

I don't see Lowe going anywhere, but Vazquez has more trade value than he ever will. The free agency market could dictate if the Braves need to bring in an outfielder or stick with Jason Heyward, both viable options.

I have a very hard time believing the Derek Lowe for Juan Pierre rumors.

I hadn't considered that option. I thought they wanted to use Kawakami in the rotation and that's why they're shopping Vazquez/Lowe. You'd be the best person to suggest whether he's a legitimate closing option or not.

In the event the Braves can't move one of their starters is Kawakami a possible option? He did pitch rather well down the stretch out of the pen.
