You're right, Jonathan, that Valencia deserves a bit more love. We first started wondering why he wasn't playing more in mid-July: http://www.rotorob.com/2010/07/12/mlb-today-how-long-do-the-twins-stick-with-nick-punto/ ; we then took a closer look at him last month in one of our Podcasts: http://www.rotorob.com/2010/08/02/podcast-lets-make-a-deal/; and finally, on the weekend, I just talked about how exciting a youngster he is: http://www.rotorob.com/2010/09/18/fantasy-notes-time-to-give-randy-wells-another-chance/.

There's no doubt that Valencia has been generally overlooked by Fantasy owners, but that's finally changing in recent weeks, especially given that he's starting to find his power stroke. I really like the fact that he's shown an ability to adjust his approach within counts, and that's helped him keep his strikeout total fairly low for a rookie.

He's a rising star, but we should temper our expectations given that he turned 26 this weekend; Valencia's upside is limited. Still, you're quite right in suggesting he deserves to be discussed more.

Why is NO ONE talking about Danny Valencia for AL ROY? He is having a better season than Austin Jackson offensively AND defensively.
