The Fourth Annual 12 Days of Code-mas!

December 10, 2013 | by Herija Green | Comments (620)
The Third Annual 12 Days of CodeMas
In Soviet Russia, code redeems you.

On the twelfth day of Code-mas,
Gamer Rob sent to me
Twelve bridges bridging,
Eleven ravens raving,
Ten mounts a-mounting,
Nine states decaying,
Eight quarps a-quarping,
Seven caves a-caving,
Six sticks a-sticking,
FIVE BLOOD DRAGONS,
Four survivors,
Three Belmonts,
Two Seung Minas,
And some brothers on a cool quest!

Another year is almost in the books, which means the time for our Fourth Annual Code-mas has arrived. Time for Gamer Claus to hand out CODES! CODES! CODES! to all the boys and girls. For 12 glorious days starting Friday, December 13, and ending Tuesday, December 24, we’ll be selecting winners, dropping codes and giving away some awesome games.

You can list as many or as few as you’d like, and if you win your code will be awarded based on the highest remaining title on your list; just make sure to include platform of choice with games available on more than one system.

Please include your @Twitter name if you have one — if not, make sure the e-mail you use when entering your comment is correct so we have a way to contact the winners.

Step 2. Tweet the following: “Merry Codemas! Follow @VideoGamerRob and enter to win one of more than 50 titles from 12/13 – 12/24 — http://bit.ly/IOnrra #codemas” — Please make sure to include the hashtag for tracking purposes.

THE FINE PRINT

Winners will be selected daily from Dec. 13 through Dec. 24. Anyone can enter, but to win you must either be following me on Twitter or use a valid email address when entering so that I can contact you.

Please note the order in which games are handed out will be random based on winner preferences except for “grand prizes,” which will be awarded starting on Saturday, December 21, and then continuing through the final day of the contest.

Good luck everyone, and happy holidays from all of us at RotoRob.com!

Video Game Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox One)

December 9, 2013 | by Herija Green | Comments Comments Off
There are definitely some levels where it’s more noticeable than others. We ended up playing through the entire campaign again, and we thought missions like Federation Day and End of the Line really popped on the new system. There’s just a level of refinement here that wasn’t possible with the 360, and it helped us enjoy our second trip through more than the first.

Video Game Review: Madden NFL 25 (PS4/Xbox One)

December 6, 2013 | by Herija Green | Comments (0)
Although the game largely handles the same on Xbox One, some noticeable improvements have been made, particularly in the running game. Buoyed by the new True Step system that’s built to take more factors into account for a collision than ever before, players now move and adjust more realistically. It definitely takes some getting used to — a fact that was driven home as we struggled to get Gold medals on the same in-game tutorials we breezed through on the 360 — but once you do you’ll find it’s a significantly improved process.

Video Game Review: Killzone: Shadow Fall

December 2, 2013 | by Herija Green | Comments Comments Off
It’s an invaluable tool… as long as you can get it to do what you want. Its functionality is mapped to the new, centrally located touch pad, and in theory each direction corresponds to an ability. The problem is that we frequently had the controller fail to recognize our input. In combat that can be a serious issue, especially when facing enemies with shields that need to be lowered by your OWL. Granted, it works more often than not, but it failed too many times to ignore.

Video Game Review: Tearaway

November 29, 2013 | by Herija Green | Comments (1)
On the traditional side, you’ll have a handful of maneuvers at your disposal, including the ability to jump, grab items/enemies and curl up into a ball and roll. Later on, you’ll acquire an accordion-like weapon that can suck things in and/or blow them out using the bumpers.
