Over at Cincinnati Reds Blog, there’s an article about the recent announcement of the AL and NL rookies of the year, as per the Baseball Bloggers Alliance (whatever that is). At any rate, the BBA chose a pair of Andrews – Bailey in the American League, and McCutchen in the National League – as its rookies of the year for 2009. It’s hard to quibble with the selection of Bailey, but I’d be more inclined to give the NL hardware to J.A. Happ of the Phillies. Then again, what do I know? I’m not part of the BBA…

Finally, The Onion — in typical Onion fashion — satirized the Red Sox demise, and especially Jonathan Papelbon’s meltdown in Game Three. As a BoSox fan, I did not find much humour in it, but in the interest of fairness, others might.

There are just the two games on tap Friday night. At 6 p.m. EST, the Yankees will look to grab a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Twins. But that may be more difficult than it sounds; after all, you have to go back a decade to find the last time New York was able to take a 2-0 lead in a divisional playoff series.

Once that game wraps, we can turn our attention to Game Two of the Red Sox-Angels series, airing at 9:30 p.m. EST. Can the Red Sox rediscover their usual dominance over the Angels, or will the Halos push Boston to the brink?

Finally, over at Braves Journal, as part of its 64 Worst Atlanta Braves bracket, Jeff Francoeur and Rufino Linares square off.

The disaster that is the 2009 Arizona Diamondbacks continued Tuesday night, as documented by AZ Snakepit. As they wrote, it’s “Never a good sign when the bullpen is warming up in the first inning.”

In other baseball matters, Tim McLeod has been on vacation, preparing for winter, which will arrive where he lives about six hours from now.
