Smart money suggests Andrew Bailey will take home AL ROY honours.

As part of our All Overpaid/Underpaid team special, we were recently interviewed for a Canadian Business article. You can find RotoRob quoted here with our thoughts on the unwieldy Vernon Wells contract and how it’s hampered the Toronto Blue Jays.

Over at Cincinnati Reds Blog, there’s an article about the recent announcement of the AL and NL rookies of the year, as per the Baseball Bloggers Alliance (whatever that is). At any rate, the BBA chose a pair of Andrews – Bailey in the American League, and McCutchen in the National League – as its rookies of the year for 2009. It’s hard to quibble with the selection of Bailey, but I’d be more inclined to give the NL hardware to J.A. Happ of the Phillies. Then again, what do I know? I’m not part of the BBA…

Finally, The Onion — in typical Onion fashion — satirized the Red Sox demise, and especially Jonathan Papelbon’s meltdown in Game Three. As a BoSox fan, I did not find much humour in it, but in the interest of fairness, others might.

We've got another roundup of various baseball links for your reading and viewing pleasure today.

Jimmy Fallon (right) had David Wells on his show earlier this week. No, that’s not a slimmed down, feminine version of Boomer with Fallon.

We’ve got another roundup of various baseball links for your reading pleasure today.

Earlier this week, David Wells appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk baseball and about Boomer’s perfect game. Check out the video here.

We hope you’ve been enjoying the playoffs more than Matt Holliday has. You can find the full schedule for 2009 MLB on TBS Postseason Schedule here.

While Holliday hasn’t been having a good time, his teammate Albert Pujols apparently has plenty of fun in the postseason. Take a peek at the video evidence here.

So far, the postseason has yet to produce anything quite resembling that unbelievably exciting Tigers-Twins playoff game. Then again, duplicating that kind of drama is pretty rare. You can check out a video of the Twins celebrating that dramatic win here.

Cal Ripken gives his take on the Rockies-Phillies series here. And here’s an interview with Yorvit Torrealba, the unlikely hero whose homer was the big blow for the Rox in Game Two.

Speaking of unlikely heroes, how about Mark Loretta of the Dodgers? I love how it’s often a very surprising player who steps up in crunch time. Check out what Loretta had to say.

After a couple of passed balls in Game One, Yankee veteran catcher Jorge Posada is going to be sitting on his duff on the bench for Game Two Friday. Here’s Hot Corner’s take on this. Meanwhile, Chip Caray and Ron Darling talk about how the Yankees creamed the Twins in Game One here. Derek Jeter sure got it done in that game, as he has in countless other playoff contests. Here’s what The Captain had to say about it.

Torii Hunter’s three-run homer provided the Angels with more than enough offense Thursday night as the Halos took out Boston in the opener. Here’s Hunter’s two cents.

There are just the two games on tap Friday night. At 6 p.m. EST, the Yankees will look to grab a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Twins. But that may be more difficult than it sounds; after all, you have to go back a decade to find the last time New York was able to take a 2-0 lead in a divisional playoff series.

Once that game wraps, we can turn our attention to Game Two of the Red Sox-Angels series, airing at 9:30 p.m. EST. Can the Red Sox rediscover their usual dominance over the Angels, or will the Halos push Boston to the brink?

Finally, over at Braves Journal, as part of its 64 Worst Atlanta Braves bracket, Jeff Francoeur and Rufino Linares square off.

Jim Tracy’s suggestions helped Troy Tulowitzki enjoy a massive year.

Marc Fein thinks Troy Tulowitzki should be the NL Comeback Player of the Year and a big part of the credit should go to Rox manager Jim Tracy, who ordered changes to Tulo’s batting stance that have made a hell of a difference. Here’s the rest of Fein’s Five Thoughts for the Week.

The disaster that is the 2009 Arizona Diamondbacks continued Tuesday night, as documented by AZ Snakepit. As they wrote, it’s “Never a good sign when the bullpen is warming up in the first inning.”

Also note that we may be participating in a Q&A with Buck Martinez shortly. Stay tuned for further details.

Finally, the All-Wire Troll teams are supposedly coming soon from Tim, but he’s gone AWOL of late, likely buried under a snowbank somewhere.

Mike Scioscia (sitting) deserves his second AL Manager of the Year award, argues Chip Caray.

We don’t normally link to other sites, preferring instead to deliver original content, but as part of a new arrangement with TBS, we’ll be highlighting some of their content over the next few weeks. In return, they will be offering up some goodies which we will give to our readers through various contests. Swag! Sweet!

Chip Caray writes that, considering the job Mike Scioscia has done for the Angels in the wake of the Nick Adenhart tragedy, he deserves his second American League Manager of the Year nod. In Carey’s column this week, he predicts all of the award winners for the Junior Circuit. See if you agree with his choices.

Marc Fein, meanwhile, suggests that fans better bundle up for the playoffs this year, as it looks like they will mostly be held in cold-weather cities. In his Five Thoughts for the Week column, Fein also writes about what a good role model Brandon Inge of the Detroit Tigers is.

In his column, Dennis Eckersley answers reader questions about the always intense Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry. Wondering how this rivalry got so ugly over the years? Eck’s got the answer.

Over at Advanced Fantasy Baseball, Jon Williams offers up his choices as the top performers in the Southern League this season. It’s no surprise that the sport’s top prospect, Jason Heyward of the Atlanta Braves, heads this list.

In other baseball matters, Tim McLeod has been on vacation, preparing for winter, which will arrive where he lives about six hours from now. But don’t fret, he’s been hard at work picking his All-Wire Troll teams for both the American and National Leagues, and promises that those will be coming “soon.” Probably as soon as he defrosts his keyboard.
