Well, we’ve finally gone to the blogs! Damn, it’s about time, don’t you think? I think even my grandmother has a blog. I believe it’s devoted to the art of making matzo balls, or some such thing. Actually, my web designer, who makes a mean matzo ball himself, might be a member there.

So yeah, let’s kick this thing off already. RotoRob is all about fantasy sports analysis. Hardball, hoops, hockey, hula hoops…whatever. You’ll find it here.

A little background is in order here, me thinks. I am a freelance journalist who’s been writing professionally for close to 20 years now (for the complete “official” corporate Rob Blackstien thing, check out my company’s site), the last three of which have seen me getting more and more into the whole fantasy sports scene. I’ve been playing fantasy games for many, many years now, and in 2003, began writing about them.

Since then, my work has appeared on Rotoworld, CREATiVESPORTS, USAToday and Foxsports. I’ve been involved in the past two Fantasy Baseball Guide magazines and also this year’s Fantasy Football Guide magazine (coming soon) for Rotoman. I spent a year as Editor in Chief of CREATiVESPORTS.com, and still run the site’s Daily Fantasy Intelligence component. Spikes Up, my weekly baseball column, and Three in the Key, my bi-weekly (during the offseason) basketball column, can both be found at CREATiVESPORTS.com. And during the basketball season, I write Position Battles, a weekly basketball column, for Rotoworld. Finally, I’m about to release my first column for Baseball Notebook.

My fantasy league credentials include never finishing worse than third place in the three expert basketball leagues I’ve participated in, a five-year run at no lower than fifth place (including one title) in the Great Lakes Fantasy Annual Baseball League, several fantasy hockey titles, and a second place finish in a fantasy football pool.

Those of you familiar with my work from Spikes Up, Three in the Key or Position Battles, know that I like to provide analysis beyond the numbers. Hey, stats rock, but sometimes you need to look behind the figures to see what’s really going on and, ultimately, how it’s all going to affect your fantasy teams. That’s why I’m here and that’s what you can expect: daily fantasy analysis with biting, yet insightful commentary that delves into the heart of the matter.

Check back often, as it’s not unusual for me to stay up to the wee hours of the night with my pet hedgehog, Prickles, who is nocturnal. He talks and I write down his thoughts. It’s a tremendously creative symbiotic relationship, and now you can be the beneficiary of some of this very commentary.

We’ll also feature the occasional guest columnist on RotoRob, including my lovely wife, Lisa B, who somehow still wanted to marry me despite my obsessive dabbling in fantasy (”what are you, 13??”) and my unnatural relationship with a hedgehog. Anyways, she’ll fill you in on what it’s like to be a roto widow in due course.
