Start ’em, Sit ’em: Trust in Johnny Manziel

Let’s get this week started by congratulating the Fantasy playoffs winners… you are now one win away from your league’s Superbowl. Week 15 has more stories than Shakespeare, from Johnny Football starting to RG3’s last dance in Washington. There are plenty of options for the semifinals, however just like Shakespeare they don’t all have happy endings. Have no fear, our Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em picks for Week 15 can guide through the stories that most affect your Superbowl run.

START ‘EM

Johnny Manziel, QB, Cleveland Browns vs. CIN: Johnny Football is getting his first start of his career. While most people stay away from rookie quarterbacks in their first start there are four main reasons why Manziel can start for you in Week 15. His arm, his legs (it sounds like they plan to let him run, as you can see in the video below), a suspect Cincy defense, and both Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron are healthy.

Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins @ NYG: Is this the end of Griffin in Washington? A final farewell? Or a resurrection? In a way it’s all of the above. The Giants have struggled to stop the run which will help the Redskins game plan a good scheme for RG3 so they can trade him in the offseason.

Chris Johnson, RB, New York Jets @ TEN: Johnson’s first season as a Jet has been a large disappointment for Fantasy owners that took the risk when drafting him. Week 15 can make that risk pay off assuming you stashed Johnson on your bench. Playing against his former team — which has the worst run defense in the league statistically — Johnson should have his best game yet as a Jet.

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago Bears vs. NOR: The season-ending injury for Brandon Marshall has opened the door for Wilson and it couldn’t have been at a better time. The Saints have been struggling on defense all year, ranking 29th against the pass. Wilson has all the tools and now the opportunity, and the best part is he is probably still a free agent in your league.

SIT ‘EM

Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay Packers @ BUF: After last week’s performance by C.J. Anderson against the Bills, Lacy probably looks like a good play. The reality of the situation is the Bills defense has been incredible all year — top 10 against the run and pass. If you have no other option then start Lacy, but just keep in mind that a lot of Fantasy backup running backs have great match-ups this weekend and will surprise.

Reggie Bush, RB, Detroit Lions vs. MIN: Bush has had an injury plagued year and although he appears to be healthy and back on the field it may be too late. Joique Bell has been great the past two weeks and he is the hot hand right now. Last week was Bush’s first game in over a month and he managed just 12 touches, averaging 2.8 yards per touch. Bush’s handcuff has become the go-to guy in Detroit which makes Bush the new handcuff.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans @ IND: This is a very tough decision, but it’s one that could help you avoid a disaster. Vonte Davis has been arguably the best cornerback this season and with Andre Johnson’s health in question there is no doubt that Davis will be asked to shut down Hopkins. Davis missed last game because of a concussion, but should be available to play Week 15 and if he does be bold and bench Hopkins.

Matt Asiata, RB, Minnesota Vikings @ DET: The Lions have the best rush defense right now and Asiata has been struggling lately. Week 15 could be the week that Asiata loses his starting gig for the second time this season. It’s already being reported that Ben Tate will be getting more looks in Week 15. There are too many questions with Asiata to risk using him in the playoffs — especially against the Lions.

Now it’s your turn. Let us know in the comments below who you’ll be starting and sitting this weekend.
