Dear RotoRob: Dealing Stud Point Guards

December 5, 2010 | By RotoRob | comment on this post
Stephen Curry is having a big year for the Golden State Warriors.
Stephen Curry is a fine buy-low target.

Dear RotoRob,

Another owner in my league has offered me Stephen Curry for my Russell Westbrook. What do you think, RotoRob? Fair trade?

Kev

Hi Kev,

Very interesting trade offer. That owner obviously believes that Curry won’t start delivering on his first round status, while Westbrook’s amazing start is the real deal. While I believe that Westbrook can in fact continue to scorch (but maybe not to the extent he has — especially once Kevin Durant and Jeff Green are fully healthy), there are other considerations here. For starters, does your league count FG percentage? If so, adding Curry would definitely be sweet. And if your team is hurting for treys, again, Curry is your man — he can win you that category.

The other biggie here is turnovers. If your league tracks those, again, my money is on Curry.

I definitely believe this is a fair trade, and you’ve got to figure this is a classic sell high, buy low deal (not that Curry is sucking, but we know he’s capable of more, and the ankle issue was definitely hindering him for a while, plus Monta Ellis can’t stay this hot forever, right?).

If FG percentage and turnovers are a factor, make the deal.
