Teixeira Out Two Months
The Rangers’ worst fears about slugger Mark Teixeira’s sore knee have become a reality as an MRI Saturday afternoon revealed torn ligaments in his left knee.
He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday in a procedure expected to sideline the switch-hitting first baseman four-to-six weeks, but the Rangers expect him to miss up to two months as he will require a rehab stint in Triple-A.
Teixeira’s injury opens the door for Brad Wilkerson to man first base every day for Texas and will allow Jason Botts to stick with the team as an extra outfielder.
