Fantasy owners had to love the fact that his worst game came early (32 yards in Week Two) and was followed up by three straight games with an end zone visit. All MVPs need a “signature moment” — Gronk’s came in Week Eight against the Chicago Bears when he amassed 149 yards on nine catches en route to three touchdowns. Through Week 15, he may only have three 100-yard games but he also has scored 11 touchdowns, and we believe his consistency is the biggest reason he is deserving of this award. A five-catch, 68-yard day is a decent line for most tight ends — but that’s Gronk’s second-worst game of the season. All of 2014’s other Fantasy Stud of the Year candidates are not even definitively the best at their position and anyone trying to argue for a tight end other than Gronkowski in 2014 needs to be drug tested.

Since the beginning of the 2013-14 season, we’ve seen George become a bigger threat from behind the arc and improve his shooting from the field as well as the charity stripe. Sure, his assists and rebound numbers are down a tad from a season ago, but his points per game are up. George is taking more shots this season and is also finding a way to get to the free throw line more than he did a year ago. To this point, he is arguably the MVP of the NBA. While that kind of hardware isn’t given out until the end of the season, we’ll gladly give George our Fantasy Stud of the Year award for 2013.

In world of almost non-existent workhorse running backs, Charles is a beast. Like AP, Charles has gone under the knife for a major knee operation, and like Purple Jesus, he bounced back strongly. Charles has led Kansas City from 2-14 a year ago to the playoffs in 2013 by averaging 131.2 yards of total offense per game. He leads the league with 18 touchdowns and already has 65 receptions — 20 more than his career high. It should be notable we had already decided to give this award to Charles before his five touchdown outburst in Week 15.

The subsequent torn ACL and MCL not only put an abrupt end to Peterson’s 2011 but suddenly jeopardized his availability to start 2012 and caused grave concern over whether he would be able to effectively resume his Hall of Fame career. As he reported to training camp, Peterson was a living, breathing question mark as far as Fantasy owners were concerned. Putting all worries to rest, and all critics to sleep, Peterson emerged from surgery better than before, and dominated the league in 2012. Leading the NFL in total rushing yards (2,097), rushing yards per game (131.1), and finishing near the top in touchdowns (12), the 27-year-old terrorized opposing defenses and resumed his post as the premier Fantasy running back.
